How to Submit Your Website to Google Search Console
This is the single most-skipped step for small business websites, and it's free. Search Console tells you exactly how Google sees your site — and lets you ask it to index new pages faster.
Step-by-step
- Go to search.google.com/search-console and sign in with a Google account
- Add your property — Domain (covers www and non-www, http and https) is usually the better option
- Verify ownership via DNS record, HTML file, or meta tag
- Submit your sitemap URL under the Sitemaps section (usually yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml)
- Use URL Inspection to request indexing for any important page not yet showing in search
What to check afterward
Give it a few days, then check the Coverage report for indexing errors and the Performance report to see which queries are already bringing traffic. This becomes your ongoing SEO dashboard — check it monthly at minimum.
